Types of Carpet Pads

Each type of carpet pad has several different varieties and constructions. The type and thickness of cushions you need vary according to traffic levels and carpet patterns. The Carpet Cushion Council describes the THREE different types as follows:

1. Prime Polyurethane foam is a firmer pad. Two liquid ingredients are put together to combine a large mass of foam, which is sliced into carpet cushion sheets.

• Bonded polyurethane foam is made by combining chopped and shredded pieces of foam. Pad comes in different sizes and colors. It frequently has a surface net for ease of installation and improved performance. Bonded foam is one of the most fantastic recycling projects of all time.
• Froth polyurethane foam is used in commercial carpets and is made with carpet backing machinery. Liquid ingredients are applied either directly to the backs of some carpet styles. They reach and form a thin, dense foam.
• 2. Fiber Carpet Cushion are produced from new and recycled materials. Fiber carpet cushion, on the other hand, uses existing fibers. The majority of the padding used in the Naperville Carpet jobs is a foam carpet cushion
  Natural fiber is a material made of rope and burlap bags. This is one of the oldest types of carpet cushion, dating back to the earliest days of machine-made carpet.
• Synthetic fibers include nylon, polyester, polypropylene, and acrylics, which are needle-punched into relatively dense cushions with a firm feel.

3. Rubber Carpet Cushion, also known as Waffled rubber cushions and Flat sponge rubber, are two cushion types.

• A waffled rubber cushion is made of synthetic rubber and natural molding. Heat cures the rubber and forms a waffle pattern. This variety produces a soft, resilient cushion whose luxurious feel is beneficial for residences.
• Flat sponge rubber is used for commercial application or Berber carpet with a firm, dense carpet cushion with a flat surface.
